January Meeting Review

DSC_8985Well, the first meeting of the year was a big success. We had nearly 50 people show up with about 16 of that number being first timers.

Hopefully, everyone had a great time and is already excited to join us at our Members meeting in February. If you are not currently a member and would like to join us at this meeting, head on over to the store and pay your 2015 membership dues.

While you are there, be sure to order a couple of tee shirts and/or work shirts. The ordering ends tomorrow at midnight.

Highlights

Cask

We tapped a cask for the first time in a few months. It was a really interesting beer. An English Mild (11A) infused with Earl Grey tea. If you missed it, here is a video of the tapping.

Membership

We covered a few things regarding club membership at this meeting:

  1. Dues are $40 for the year, include a ton of benefits and are due by the February meeting. Contact Kyle Callister with any questions.
  2. We will be covering a specific beer style every month. During open meetings this will be a brief, high-level discussion and include a sampling of an example of the style.
  3. Our sponsor Salt City Brew Supply has graciously allowed us to use their old space for our meetings. However, their lease is up in a few months, if they don’t sublet it first. Even so, we are already outgrowing this space and are looking for new digs to hold our meetings in. If you have any ideas or suggestions at all (churches, businesses, warehouses, etc), please reach out to us.

Education

Andrew Ayers gave a stellar presentation on lagering and lager techniques. It was quite informative. We have posted his presentation online in the Education section.
